For me specifically, with a spinal cord injury there are so many promising technologies Jost on the verge of being developed into treatments realistically sometime in the next five to 10 years! </div> <bR> <div> Even if you don't support embryonic stem cell research, let them know you support stem cell research because other sources are being found such as in the bridge of your nose for the spinal cord or bone marrow for your heart. Stem cells injected into hearts with less than 60% function following a dramatic heart attack have regained over 95% function. However, this policy has proven too limiting, and the U.S. National Institutes of Health now says that expanding the policy will speed research.</div> <bR> <div> Embryonic stem cells are special cells that can develop into every type of cell in the human body and could potentially be grown into differentiated cells to treat individuals suffering from a variety of injuries and diseases such as, paralysis, Parkinson's, juvenile diabetes, ALS, Alzheimer's, and countless others.</div> <bR> <div> These stem cells come from excess frozen embryos in fertility clinics, donated by couples who no longer want or need them because they have finished their fertility treatments. More than 400,000 embryos are currently frozen; if they cannot be used for stem cell research, they will be discarded.</div> <bR> <div> The Bush Administration has the power to expand this policy.
